Whispers of the Possessed
A downloadable game
At the beginning of the game, each player is assigned one of the three roles (Cultist, Saint or Villager) in secrecy. The Villagers have the majority, but they don’t know for sure their identities. The Saint plays for the Villagers team and can never be possessed. The Cultists should keep their identities secret and aim to sabotage the opposite team.
The Cultists win by revealing four malicious action cards, whereas the Villagers and the Saint win by revealing four sacred action cards.
Every round, possession cards are dealt randomly to each player. The possession cards decide if a player must vote malicious in the action phase. Possessions have no effect on the Saint and Cultists.
Whenever an action card is revealed, its effect will be applied in the next round. It doesn’t matter what team the Mayor is on; in fact, even Villager players might be tempted to reveal a Malicious action card to gain new abilities. The game is over when there are either four Malicious action cards or four Sacred cards have been revealed. If there are four Malicious action cards the Cultists have won, otherwise the Villagers and Saint have won.
